QUIT Social media in 2013, WHY???
Posted by amrita89
Social media is somewhat married to each one of us and we just detest a divorce with it, Specially with all the startup and and advertisement opportunity it promises to bring in its kitty. However avoiding or rather considering all odds , 2013 can be an amazing year to totally quit social media.
Hey no! wait I am not asking you to give away your laptop being a kind Santa or ask you wireless provider to pull away his services . But however you can limit yourself and see the magic. It sounds very odd since I myself work for a giant search engine and my employee can squint there eye on reading this but after all the hype , all the arrest and all the publicity that social media has created, a deeper insight shows that it was never worth it.
I can never deny that lot of lives are saved because of instant facebook massages and a number of creative minds have come up with anaroid apps to secure women chastity , and jerks like Poonam Pandey signed for some big shot (if only) movie (All thanks to media publicity for that). But is it okey to sit with you macbook ( sorry , whichever device you may be using) and twit witty comments the entire day , get your name published in print media , augment your klout ranking and be happy. Maybe Not.
I have some everyday , (no rocket science) reasons to show that 2013 can be a good year to keep social media at bay.
1) “THANK YOU”- by blood pressure:-
Yes your blood pressure will have a sigh of relief it you do that. Social media is also a global platform for brashing , bragging , bitching , stalking and all other bad things along with destroying your grammer. Why to unnecessarily involve into all this ?
Yes, debates are healthy , but why don’t you join a toastmasters in that case. [ I am starting one soon in Jamshedpur
] You want a global argument session have a podium for that , don’t use trivial things like facebook status message for that , your are not reaching out to a greater mass, all is happening just within your friend circle.
Your one like or one status will never or had ever caused any difference . It is time for you to take a timeout and ensure that your breakup is legitimate.
2) Totally brash your Self Esteem (At times):- I totally remember this, it dates back to 2011 when I had the audacity to quit joining one of the premier B-School and play a gamble of doing things all by myself and give life one more opportunity to have the best. I am a very mediocre human being and after bearing someday off the lime light I had once attracted , yes I suffered severely from Inferiority complex. Well! Today I don’t regret anything and is soon hoping into one of the Best B Schools based in Singapore. But then yes I have had my piece of turbulent time.
SO , coming back to the point , social media at times totally hampers our spirit by depicting a totally false and trouble world of our peers. While Evidence for Social Media Anxiety Disorder is largely anecdotal at present, a UK study from the fall found that over 50% of social media users evaluated their participation in social networking as having an overall negative effect on their lives. (Yes, I can see you recalling a similar event from your past). We all have our share of personal and professional issues why to augment them with these social media platforms?.
3) There is absolutely no substitute to offline life: You stay in Hyderabad and wish to kiss you friend somewhere in the neighboring state. Why make smiley and add hash-tag to it. Take a bus go there kiss your friend and come back , and if you cant afford that journey , work hard earn that money and then go. Trust me there is no substitute to off line world, feelings and intimacy which you can never ever attain on-line.
You can enjoy a dinner your spouse equally well without “check in” , or “instagraming”, You can will enjoy your new year bash much more if you concentrate less on clicking that perfect picture to show off to the world that you actually had a new year bash.
Go get a Real life before you get too old to move around and all you can do is sit next to your iMac( or whichever device you have) and click to the next picture
